I wasn’t always an auto detailer. Before Danny’s Auto Detailing, I worked as a travel agent. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March of 2020, international travel came to a sudden halt—and so did my career. Like many people, I found myself at home, rethinking everything.

During quarantine, I started learning how to properly wash and detail my own car. What began as a way to stay busy quickly turned into a genuine passion. Once restrictions loosened, I began detailing cars for friends, neighbors, and family—sharpening my skills, learning the craft, and falling in love with the process. Word spread, and before long, the side project became a real business.

Fast forward to today, and I’m grateful to receive multiple inquiries a day from customers all over San Francisco. Danny’s Auto Detailing has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of—not just because of the cars, but because of the people.

More Than Just Clean Cars

This business is dedicated to my late father, Pete McElmury, whom we lost suddenly in December of 2019. I miss him every single day. I carry him with me on every detail, feeling his support and hearing his encouragement. The acronym for Danny’s Auto Detailing is D.A.D., and that reminder tells me I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

As the business has grown, so have I. These days, I’m deeply focused on my health, raising my kids, and being present for my family. Fatherhood has sharpened my values, my patience, and my work ethic—and all of that shows up in how I run this company.

I’m also constantly dialing in our operations: improving systems, refining processes, and making sure every customer experience feels professional, personal, and easy from the first text to the final walk‑around.

How I Work

I’ll be honest—I’m not the fastest detailer. But I am thorough.

​

I believe in high-quality work, clear communication, and treating every vehicle with respect. I genuinely enjoy answering the phone, responding to messages, getting to know my customers, and building long-term relationships. Trust matters to me, and I work hard to earn it every single time.

Outside of work, I love vacationing in Hawaii and am excited to explore more of the United States with my family in the years ahead. That sense of curiosity and appreciation for craftsmanship, places, and people is the same energy I bring to every detail.
